An incredible large Crazy Lace Agate tower absolutely packed with intricate natural patterning. Standing approximately 19cm tall and weighing a substantial 640g, this piece combines vivid golden yellow, cream, rust, soft grey, earthy green and warm brown in layer upon layer of lace-like banding.
This is one of those pieces you can keep turning and continuously find something new. Fine concentric lines ripple across the polished faces, surrounding pockets of contrasting colour and creating tiny orbs, sweeping waves and wonderfully chaotic lace formations. Some sections are intensely golden, while others shift into soft cream and grey before being interrupted by rusty red and mossy green inclusions.
Several areas have beautiful eye-like formations where successive layers of Agate wrap around darker centres. Elsewhere, incredibly fine parallel bands fold and curve around one another, giving the stone the complex, almost topographical appearance that makes Crazy Lace Agate so distinctive.
At 640g and 19cm tall, this is a proper statement tower. The combination of its size, saturated golden colouring and exceptionally busy patterning gives it enormous display presence, whether placed in a crystal collection, cabinet or as a standalone feature piece.
Crazy Lace Agate
Crazy Lace Agate is a highly patterned variety of banded Chalcedony best known for its intricate swirls, loops, eyes and lace-like formations. Rather than forming in simple straight layers, its bands twist and fold around one another, producing the wonderfully complex patterns responsible for its name.
The material is particularly associated with Mexico and can contain a remarkable mixture of cream, yellow, orange, red, brown and grey. Every cut through the material exposes a different arrangement of bands and formations, making polished pieces completely individual.
