Vivianite

Vivianite is a hydrated iron phosphate mineral, typically forming as elongated, prismatic or bladed crystals. Fresh Vivianite may initially be very pale or almost colourless, developing increasingly strong blue-green to deep green tones through oxidation and exposure to light.

Because Vivianite is both relatively soft and light-sensitive, collector specimens are best displayed thoughtfully and handled carefully. Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or intense UV light should be avoided in order to help preserve the specimen's colour and condition.
